I hate people that go back on their commitments

Wed Jun 24, 2009, 9:53 AM
So anyone that knows me knows that I am a big computer gamer. I even go to large computer gaming events to compete in games and to have fun. Normally I'll only go to events that are near where I live. (the East SF Bay Area)

So last month a couple of friends of mine asked me to fly from California to Phoenix, AZ for the weekend (June 13th and 14th) to play in a Call of Duty 4 competition with them at a LAN. Although I had very little money, I said sure I'll go, so they had a full team. While one of my 2 friends was willing to pay for other people to fly to the event so their travel cost were lower, I asked for no help, and funded my own trip myself. My plane ticket was $255, and that was almost as much as I made in a pay check at the time because my hours at work were getting cut back. I still went to the event though, because I planned on helping out my friends because they asked me, and also having fun.
In the end though, I actually was able to win a few prizes at the event, so it was a worthwhile trip for me. I digress though...

So coming up in roughly 4 weeks time is another event that we knew about while we were in AZ. It is in Sacramento, so I am definitely going since it is so close. I asked if my 2 friends who I went to Arizona with wanted to go, and they said yes. They bought their tickets for the event and everything, and said they'd go.

Fast forward to a few days ago. These guys start concentrating very hard on a new team they're making, and I kind of fall to the wayside and they almost are ignoring me since they're spending time working hard with their new team. I think this is uncool since I want to practice for the LAN event coming up, but whatever. Also, the LAN event completely sold out, and a lot of people who still wanted to go started posting in the LAN forums that they'd buy or trade for tickets people already have. I think it's kind of funny since they're in the situation because they were too lazy to reserve their ticket right away.

Fast forward to last night. The guys who were going to go with me all sold their seats as if they were scalpers outside a ballpark, and now I'm left with my willy blowing in the wind and no team, since they just bailed on me without saying anything. All of this after saying they'd go and buying tickets, etc etc.

Friekin lame.

And yes, i'm still going so I can have fun and win shit that weekend. If I win a lot of prizes, Imma rub it in their faces.

I just now realized who you were.

Don't worry, I can be extremely slow sometimes as well. Who did you think I was before you realized who I actually am?

That's just it; I didn't know.

So if you didn't know who I was before now, then how do you know that you actually DO know who I actually am and you're not mistaking me for someone else? :o
